Benefits of cold training in water, ice, and air have been known for centuries. The ancient Greeks used cold water for relaxation and therapy. Hippocrates wrote about cold water as a pain-relieving agent, and Napoleon’s surgeon recommended ice and snow for pain relief in amputations.

However, scientific research did not begin until much later. In the 1960s, the focus was on recovery after sports, before research shifted to survival in extreme temperatures. Only recently has metabolic health become a central focus.

Although there are many benefits, cold exposure is not without risks. This is why we closely follow new scientific findings and have a leading European cold researcher on our board. Our goal is to provide you with the latest, scientifically-based information as well as current trends and practices, including those that have not yet been thoroughly studied scientifically but have proven effective in practice.
